More Tips for Using ChatGPT Responsibly

🧠 Keep It Focused

  • ChatGPT can get confused if you change topics mid-conversation. When switching topics, it’s best to start a new chat.

  • It remembers what you’ve said during a single chat, so you don’t need to repeat yourself.

❌ Don’t Rely on It for Sources

✍️ Choose Your Format

  • You can ask ChatGPT to produce content in different formats:

    • Paragraphs

    • Bullet points

    • Tables

    • Multiple-choice quiz questions

    • Code and more

🔐 Protect Your Data

  • Do not enter personal, sensitive, or private data — OpenAI may use your inputs to improve its models.

  • You can limit data sharing by adjusting your privacy settings:

To turn off chat history and model training (Web):
Go to Settings > Data Controls > Toggle off “Improve the model for everyone”
This also activates Temporary Chat, meaning your chats will not be stored or used for training.

On iOS/Android:
Tap the menu (☰), then go to Settings > Data Controls, and toggle off Chat History & Training.
