Introduction
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is an exciting new technology which has evolved very quickly, with several new models and applications emerging since November 2022.
This self-directed resource has been designed to help you navigate and understand the basics of GenAI. Exploring the resource at your own pace will give you an opportunity to focus on understanding some fundamental GenAI concepts, while also considering the pros and cons of using GenAI in your studies.
The resource is structured into four sections which are:
- Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence
- Generative AI Tools
- Learning With Generative AI
- Important Considerations Before Using GenAI In Your Studies
Expand the Contents menu on the top left of the screen to navigate through each section, finding and bookmarking specific topics to revisit as needed throughout the trimester.
If you encounter an unfamiliar word or phrase in the text that is underlined with a blue dotted line, click on it to see the glossary definition or explanation appear in a pop-up dialog box. Choose ‘Glossary’ from the menu on the left side of the screen to browse a complete list of included definitions and explanations.
There is a short self-test quiz at the end of each section to help you check your knowledge and understanding as you progress.
