Generative AI Tools

There are many GenAI tools available. Some are free, some need you to create an account, and some are subscription-based. This section ‘Generative AI Tools’ gives an overview of some of the most common GenAI tools currently available in Ireland.

Please note that inclusion or reference to a specific GenAI tool in this resource is not an endorsement by UCD, nor should it be interpreted as a recommendation for use by UCD students or faculty.

  • As a student, it is your responsibility to verify what guidance is available regarding the use of GenAI tools to complete course work or assignments in a programme/module.
  • Before using a GenAI tool like ChatGPT or Gemini to assist with course work or assessment, you should check with your lecturer/module-coordinator/Brightspace guidelines, to ensure you fully understand what is permitted.
  • Always check assessment guidelines to confirm if the use of GenAI tools is permitted and understand any related requirements.
  • Guidance may vary between modules/programmes/schools, so you will need to check on a per-module basis rather than assuming universal guidelines apply across a programme, unless otherwise advised.
