In this concluding unit, we turn our attention to the future implications and current advancements of AI in higher education, highlighting how these developments could influnece teaching but also consider the potential impact on research. Throughout this resource, we’ve stressed the importance of informed, critical decision-making in the face of rapidly evolving GenAI technologies. As we move forward, equipping ourselves with AI competencies will be essential for educators to effectively harness these tools.

This unit aims to highlight emerging GenAI trends and their potential impact on higher education. Keeping this resource up-to-date has presented its challenges, with notable changes occurring that could significantly influence higher education. As of February 2024, our goal is to capture the most recent developments while also signalling what the future may hold. Despite the inevitable change,  the foundational principles discussed throughout this resource are designed to remain relevant and guide educators in navigating Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education.
